Subject: Scheduled NOAA Weather Radio Outage – System Upgrade in Progress

TNW News Chicago, in coordination with the National Weather Service (NWS) Chicago, is issuing this public service announcement regarding a scheduled outage affecting multiple NOAA Weather Radio stations across the Chicago region. Beginning Tuesday, April 22, 2025, several transmitters will be temporarily taken offline to complete essential upgrades to improve reliability and future alert capabilities.

Service is expected to resume by Thursday evening, April 24, 2025.

We strongly encourage the public to remain weather-aware and ensure they have multiple methods to receive critical weather alerts and emergency updates, including:

Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on smartphones

Trusted weather apps with push notifications

Local TV and radio stations for breaking coverage
